Spiraea
Today I found a variety of dwarf spiraea is a gorgeous pink blossom. I picked up five of them and will try them in front of the pink encore azaleas that I planted under the garage window. According to the tag the spiraea should stay about a foot tall and mound a foot or foot and a half wide.. We shall see!
The orange day Lillie's are blooming and the Stella Dora Lillies. The hosta are up and beautiful! I hope the deer don't eat them. I really don't know how to prevent it.

Snake alert
Well yesterday Gary was outside and heard a commotion in the front near the walkway. He investigated and found the mockingbirds and brown thrashers working together to drive off a six foot gray rat snake! Of course Garys heart racing came inside and said he needed a shovel. I knew then that if I didn't go out with him that the snake was going to die! So I won't out with him and assured him it was not poisonous and we need them to keep the rodents in check. It really spooked him. He was nervous about it all day. He came by snake fears honestly. His mom taught him well!!

April 20th
Friday, April 20th, the lilies are in full stride now, my tomato plants have fruit and the squash and cukes have tons of buds. I continue to be amazed at the early maturity of every plant.
Today Gary pruned the front hollies. We need to do the rest of them as soon as we can. The mockingbird babies have fledged. It is so cute to watch them learn from the parents. I don't know about the blue birds. The parents have been super busy, but I have not seen any little ones.
Last night Jacob had his first school program! He was so excited and Hal was kind enough to send me texts during the program so Gary and I would know what was happening. I really wish we could be near enough to them so we could be a part of their lives. I really don't like being a "visitor". But that is what we are and Gary is adamant that we will not move to Texas. We have to decide what we are going to do soon. We don't need to stay in this big house with no family around. We've been talking about st Simon island again. It may be a good compromise. We shall see.

April 15th
The weather continues to be unseasonably warm. The roses have burst into blooms and are amazingly beautiful. The gumbo azaleas are in bloom, two months early, and the Lillie's have buds that are almost ready to open.
Yesterday Gary and I planted 15 creeping gardenias in the front on each side of the front islands. Hopefully they will all do well.
We have been enjoying watching the blue birds parent their babies, we also have mocking bird nests in the front yard that are keeping the parents very busy.

Easter weekend
This is Easter weekend, the weather has been beautiful. I have worked in the yard quite a bit this weekend and enjoyed every minute of it. The blue irises are blooming and the day Lillie's are setting buds. The roses have burst into masses of red blooms and the clamentis are bright purple. Everything is two to three weeks ahead of time. Things that normally don't bloom until late may are ready to bloom.
I painted the blue bird house today and mounted it on a tall limb from a crepe myrtle tree. It looks really good and maybe the birds will enjoy it now that it is taller. They never paid it any attention while it was mounted on the fence, too low I think.
Gary and I are going to Marietta on Tuesday to paint, clean, and trim the yard at Helen's house so that we can get it on the market. The painting will take a while....the insides of all the closets are really bad. In a way i am looking forward to going because since I have not been able to play tennis I really feel Asea. This will keep me busy at least a day. I cannot play tennis again until mid may.
A few days ago I wrote in my journal, and it was really bad. I have been really blue lately. Many factors I think. One is my routine has been totally messed up since I cannot play tennis. Another is my loneliness. Lately my loneliness has been overwhelming. Gary tries to help me, but it is tough especially since I don't even know what to do. Thankfully we are going to Texas in a few weeks and that will be wonderful. Seeing the boys, David and Sherry is a good dose of medicine for me!
Tomorrow is another day. Live, laugh love and be thankful for all the blessings God has bestowed upon you.

Wednesday, April 4, 2012
Today is Wednesday yesterday Gary and I went to Marietta to help Helen get her house listed. We have so much work to do to get it on the market. It is a tiny house, but cute and in good shape. I think we will be going back up there next week to get started. Tomorrow is my crown dental appointment. I am not looking forward to that.
The mocking birds that have nested in the front shrubs have hatched. I see the parents running back and forth to feed them and I hear them calling to be fed. I love watching the birds here.
My purple cone flowers are blooming, also the clementis and the hydrangea are budding. Everything is so early this spring, and very warm. 90% yesterday!
